We understand your piano is more than a wonderful instrument and beautiful piece of furniture. It is a valuable asset. When properly maintained, it will only increase in value. Sterry Piano and First Coast Opera
First Coast Opera kicked off its 2018-19 season with Bernstein’s Broadway, a concert highlighting the musical legacy of iconic American composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. Part of the international Leonard Bernstein at 100 celebration, Bernstein’s Broadway featured hit tunes from his wildly successful Broadway musicals performed by guest artists in the Lightner Museum “swimming pool”, 25 Granada St., in downtown St. Augustine.
The singers were accompanied by a beautiful Shafer & Sons Rosewood Grand, available for sale! Picture this beautiful piano in you’re home.
On October 27, 2017 the First Coast Opera performed a show on the week of Halloween titled “Opera’s Most Haunting Melodies”. Performed in front of a packed house at the Mark Lance Armory on San Marco Ave, St Augustine, FL, the show was opera at its best with a sprinkle of spooky Halloween and comedy.
Starring in its supporting role was a beautiful Steinway “M” in a light walnut. The piano was restored by the craftsmen at Sterry Piano, and you can find galleries of the process here. At 5’7” in length, the instrument balances its rich tone with a manageable size making it the perfect instrument for many homes. Beautiful Music in the Nation’s Oldest City
On Friday, October 28th, 2016, First Coast Opera explored the brief, shining career of iconic American tenor and heartthrob, Mario Lanza (1921-1959). A packed house heard live performances of selections from his films The Student Prince, The Toast of New Orleans, The Great Caruso, and others in the unique “swimming pool” of The Lightner Museum in downtown Saint Augustine.
The singers, accompanied by a 1910 Steinway grand piano were absolutely at their best, evident by the thundering applause of the audience. The Steinway “B” has been restored (see our restoration galleries here) by Sterry Piano. Similar classic instruments are available for sale. including a rare Steinway “D” Orchestral Grand in a rosewood finish.
